MAN AND WIFE DROWNED.

IN THE TUKITUKI RIVER

HASTINGS, this day. James Neary and his wife, employed as married Couple at McKenzie's Kahuranaki Station, were drowned at Cabbage Tree Crossing in the Tukituki river, yesterday. They left the station at 9 a.m. and notfiing was known of the fatality until abotrt 4 p.m., when a man named Coopet saw the horses in the river wifljJ^neix l heads above water and the buggy capsized.

The police recovered the Neary, but found no trace of his wife* The river is in flood and it is still raining heavily. •
