CANADA'S FIRST DIVISION.

OTTAWA, November 29

Mr. Mewburn (Minister of Militia), in a speech to-day, said that Canada was in precisely the same position as Australia. Until sufficient reinforcements were forthcoming it was impossible to spare a single man from the front on furlough. Canada hoped to give the first contingenters furlough, but recent casualties were heavy, and it was not likely that this would. be possible.
