NURSES , MEMORIAL CONCERT.
Although there has been quite a number ,of concert and other entertainments of late that to-night in aid of the Nurses’ Memorial Fund’ has features peculiarly its own. There is talent hitherto unheard here because it has not been sought. Miss Aborn, A.R.C.M., is to play the opening number on the pianoforte, and Miss May Smylie, of Taoroa, will make her first appearance before a Taihape audience. Miss Phyllis Oldham and Miss M rightson take part with the Pierrot Entertainers, who are said to be an exceedingly well-trained company. From rehearsals it may bo justifiably presumed that Miss Oldham will in the near future become a vocalist whose services will be much sought after, and Miss Wrightson is also showing much cause for. hope. Mrs. Beaton is doing excellently, in fact is a surprise at rehearsals, and she is certain to receive a shower of plaudits, all going to show that Taihane has much talent that has not yet reached its concert platform. Mr Geo. Parker and Mr jAahm need no comment, as their numbers are sure to be among the best. Other names on the programme are Faith Nethercliffe, Mrs. Wilson and Miss Brodrlck, the constitution of the company being such as to make the concert to-riight of a novel nature. Then to top it all, Mr John Prouse, a world-travelled artist will contribute two items. There should with such an array of new and really talented singers be a bumper audience in the Town Hall fo-night.
