RED CROSS DAY.
A meeting of the Executive Commit* tee was held last evening. Final arrangement for the * ‘ Day ’ 1 were dis* cussed and encouraging reports received from all sources. Messrs. E. Loader and G. Bryce are endeavouring to got a Band together for the procession and a meeting of all bandsmen and others who can play an instrument is called for 8 p.m. od Monday night at the Band Boom.
The Returned Soldiers will make a brave showing in the procession and it is anticipated “Our Day” will be honoured by a goodly number of Returned Soldiers in uniform. The Boy Scouts also intend to do their bit in the procession and numer* ous promises of assistance have been given so that the procession next Thursday should eclipse that of lasfj year. All motor ear owners are requested to assist by decorating their cars and taking part both in the procession and motor car events at thg Sports. The artists appearing at the concert have been practising assiduously and the public are promised excellent fare in this direction. The art union tickets are selling w*elT| Mrs. Batt having accounted for many books already. Mrs. Batt’s valuable services will be utilized entirely in the interests of the art union, as she has few r equals in this important money gathering scheme for Patriotic Funds. The horse events are under control of Mr. S. Powell, and all horse and pony owners are requested to enter for no good of the cause. The pigeon shoot is in th e capable hands of Mr. S. Beban wdio will see to it that every member of the gun club figures in the nomination list.
The gentlemen in charge of the afternoon tea arrangements Messrs. S, Dunbar, W. Sexton, Rev. Stent, and A. M. Ryan report “all well” in their department.
Mr. C. L. Dymock was appointed auditor of the “Our Day” Fund. A general meeting of the Executive and all helpers is called for S p.m. on Monday night in the Town Hall Supper Room, when the progress reports will be received from all those to whom tasks have been allotted'. Any person wil.ing to help on the day is requested to attend in addition to the following who have already 1 received portfolios: Messrs. W. R. Emerson, T. Shout, 3. Eeban S. Powell, H.
