JAPS TO THE RESCUE. LONDON, September 30. Reuter learns that the Japanese admiral reported that Japanese destroyers w r ere escorting liners and a transport when a liner was torpedoed. The destroyers produced a smoko screen to protect the liner from further attack and rescued-550 from the ship, including women and children, in loss than an hour.
