We retired to the right bank of the Dvina. Enemy attacks in the region of Riga, northward of Muncbelu and northward of Groseselle, broke down. GERMANS CAPTURE 50 GUNS AT JACOBSTADT. LONDON, Sept 22. A wireless German official message states: — Our divisions broke through the Russian position north-westward of Jacobstadt. The "enemy were forced back against the river. T-hey yielded the bridgehead, forty kilometres wide and ten kilometres deep, on the western bank of the Dvina, and fled to the eastern bank. Jacobstadt is in our hands and we captured over 50 guns. PLOT AT TOBOLSK. STOCKHOLM, Sept 22. A big counter-revolutionary movement has been discovered in Tobolsk, where the Czar is interned. The officers of the whole Tobolsk garrison were in the confidence of the revolutionary leaders, who had planned first to release the Czar. Already 100 arrests have been made, including officers of high rank. It is alleged that Korniloff was co-operating with the plotters.
