HAIG’S Received 8.50. LONDON; Sept 12. Sir Douglas Haig reports that he repulsed the enemy, who attacked this morning, eastward of HargiCOlLft, We successfully raided north-east of Bullecourt and southward of Lombaertzyde. A French communique says an artillery struggle is proceeding in the sectors of Briegachten and Bixschoote. We made successful raids northeast of Auberine and east of the St. Hilaire-St. Souplet Road, where we penetrated the enemy’s third line, killed or captured the whole garrison. The enemy, in an attempt northeast of Tahure failed with serious losses. We repulsed two attacks on advanced posts north of Caurieres Wood and north of Ronvaux. Enemy aeroplanes bombed Dunkirk and several civilians were victims. SEVERE ATTRITIVE METHODS. HALF GERMAN EFFECTIVES LOST.
Received 9.15. PARIS, Sept 12. The Petit Parisien’s correspondent in the Len s region states British artillery for months past has inflicted losses totalling one-half the German effectives. The Germans have nowbrought up Alsatian troops from the Russian front for efpCsed positions against, the Canadians. AIR RAIDING OPERATIONS. DURING THE PAST MONTH. Received 9.15. LONDON, Sept 12. Operations by the Naval Air Service were carried out in the past 24 hours. They raided St. Denis, Western Conftrode, aerodromes, Bruges docks, the Thourout rail junction and railways near Ghent, where several tons of explosives dropped. They also dropped many tons at Sparapelsoe’s and Thourout ammunition dump. All our machines returned.
