HOPES OF RUSSIAN UNITY SHATTERED. COUNTER REVOLUTIONARY MEN GROWING. LONDON, August 29. Mr Wilton, the "Times" Petrograd correspondent, telegraphs that if a hope lingered in Russian breasts that the confernce would accomplish tne miracle of social healing, fciat hone was quenched to-day. The Sodei (the Council of Workmen's and Sold'ers' Delegates) did not heed appeals to sink their differences and save the country. They cheered M. Kerensky if only to display opposition to General Korniloff. \
At the Moscow Conference M. Prolaff, representing the Engineers' Alliance, emphasised that the complete disorganisation of transport might have terrible consequences. The armies might turn on Russia and commit excesses. The disorganisation was largely due to the extreme demands of the transporters. Representatives of the Ukraine and West Russia declare that the people of their district were ready for any sacrifice. A Courland representative, M. Zets, said that Courland would never belong to Germany. A delegate representing the General Mussulman Alliance, declared that all Mussumans in Russia fully supparted the Government. M. Orekoff, the chief spokesman of the railroad workers, declared that railroaders would disupt a counterrevolution by tying up communicaion all over Russia. There is no doubt that the counter revolutionary movement is growing. M. Grouzinoff, representative of j the Zemstvos, urged support for General Korniloff. ENEMY ATTACKS REPULSED. RUSSIANS ABANDON POSITIONS. Received 11.40. LONDON, August 30. Wireless Russian official: We repulsed attacks at Radantz near Ocna. The enemy attacked eastward of Iresha and dislodged our troops, some of whom abandoned the position and retired northward. Measures have bee taken to restore the positions, and the battle is progressing. We occupied two villages in the direction of Pendeovin. A FERVENT APPEAL. Received 11.40. PETROGRAD, August 30. Prince Kropatkin, at the. Moscow Conference, recommended the vigourous prosecution of the war, otherwise Germany would retain the occupied territories and extend her conquests M. Plekhanoff, another veteran revolutionary fervently appealed to the Ministerialists to co-operate with social reforms. Two leading industrialists, the leading spokesman of whom responded, promised to co-operate with the democracy in the interests of the whole country. THE MOSCOW .CONFERENCE. LONDON, August 29. The Moscow C&Bfefence has closed. Representatives of the Agrarian organisations and banks evoked great indignation by declaring that the Soldiers ' and Workmen's Committee had disorganised industry, also severely criticising the revolutionary movement. Kerensky, in his closing speech, said the views expressed at the Conference manifested a desire to arrive at an, agreement with the Provisional Goernment. He emphasised that the Provisional Government would not suffer a counter-revolutionary movement. NO HOPE OF SEPARATE PEACE. k AMSTERDAM, Aug. 29. * Reports of the Moscow Conference proved a great disappointment in Germany, where it was . hoped Russia would foresake the Allies. Newspapers disclose chagrin. The "Lokal Anzeiger" says Germany was prepared to offer Russia honourable peace. TO SAVE THE COUNTRY.
