Reports have been received here that the Italians are carrying out an offensive on a thirty-seven mile front. Already 8000 prisoners have been taken.

A VERY BITTER STRUGGLE.

ITALIANS ATTACK COASTAL TERRITORY. LONDON, August 20. Wireless Austrian official. The Italians attacked coastal territory on the Izonzo which has belonged to Austria for centuries. After very strong artillery preparation, lasting a day and a half, the enemy infantry advanced this morning between Mazlivrh and the sea. A very bitter struggle is raging in almost all sections of a sixty kil ometres front. Reports rceived are entirely favourable. AUSTRIAN SUPPORTS HURRYING UP. Received 11.50. ROME, August 20.
