THREE STARS
American politics at their stormiest form the leading motive of "The Velvet Paw" now showing at Three Stars. The heroine is a beautiful young woman who is skilfully converted by a clever old scheming politician into a dangerous feminine lobbyist. She ruins one career after another, but real love conies to her at last and she realises the infamy of the game she is playing. The Congress scenes arc fine, and the film is remarkable for splendid pictures of Washington, the capital, and the other magnificent Assembly and Governmental buildings of the United States. There is also a genuine peep at President Wilson (without his typewriter), and the whole' investiture of the play is most convincing. The story is good and hangs well together, and the last few scenes are full of action and highly dramatic. Gail Kane fits the part well, and her emotional acting is full of appeal.. Her fresh beauty lends itself well to the role of the seductive wtire-puller. House. Peters is seen in his best role to date.
