EVERYBODY’S

"The Lash"—How would you like to live on an. island w-here any woman who was found flirting was lashed at the whipping post. Such is the principle upon which the plot of "The Lash" is based. It reveals Marie Doro, brilliant, young artist, in the character of the appealing young daughter of plain fisher folk of Brittany's storm swept shore. The maid marries and is taken to Paris by her wealthy husband, where she enters a maelstrom of social activity, deceit, and jealousy. Later, in another, country, when a flirtatious widow tries to force her charms on the girl's husband she resorts to toe island practice, and horsewhips the woman, returning then in sorrow to the island, thinking that her husband is unfaithful. Back on the island, and unable to produce a husband, s-he is in danger of having her customary treatment meted out to her, when her husband arrives and saves the day. The scenic vestures of this production surpass anything that has ever been attempted in the cinema before, and will be remembered by true lovers of beauty' long after the story is forgotten. In the same programme there will be found several other films of the highest interest.
