General Korniloff has ordered the Guards regiment which bolted from Taruupol' to forfeit all privileges. He. will replace the disgraced regiments after the war with those having a bet-' ter record, who will form the nucleus of the Republican Guard. SLACKENING OFF THE ATTACK ON ROUMANIA ODESSA, August 12. The enemy, operation on the Roumanian front is rapidly diminishing in intensity, owing to heavy loses and the desperate resistance of the Russians, who will only fall back willingly in obedience to strategic necessity.

A Russian official message says:— "Following stubborn attacks the Roumanians retired to Okna, and westward of Gorozesce. The in superior force, attacked on the Focsina-Mere-chesci railway. We counter-attacked and took 1200 prisoners. Later we retired to Oreehesei. We captured an enemy position at the mouth of the Buzeu River."
