A PUKEOKAHU ACCIDENT
A VERY'NARROW ESCAPE An accident occurred at Pukeokahu? on Saturday that .narrowly escaped fatal results. Mr Ernie Gilbert had only proceeded a chort distance fromhis house in his motor car, bringing his son into town on a visit to the doctor, when his car skidded on the sluchy road and went over a bank down into a ravine some 200 feet deep, crushing through a fence and all other obstructions. Fortunately,, the occupants, five in number, were all thrown clear w r ith the first sault of the car, the only serious injury happening to one child, who sustained a fractured leg, just below the knee. The whole party returned to Mr Gilbert’s house, and Dr Sinclair was telepohned for. On arrival the doctor found there was no need for serious concern, and this morning it was reported that all in the exciting and dangerous experience are progressing as well as can be expected. Messrs Edlin and Eteveneaux, of the Ford Motor Garage, were also telephoned for, and they, were soon at work raising the car from its ignominious position. It is now in the Ford Garage, at Taihape, ' repairs. '
