THE KARA ROAD DRAIN.
(To the Editor) Sir, —As I suppose you have been endowed, like Kaka Road residents,, with a keen sense of smell, would jo/tf, mind taking a walk along this wei/ patronised thoroughfare 1 some even* ing between 8 and 9 o’clock, on the footpath, keeping your head well elevated in order to get the full benefit of the fearsome effluvia that arisesfrom a drain that is blocked on the' inner side of the footpath, and then through your colun. give residents and others the benefit of your opinion ? I understand that this matter was brought under the notice of the Inspector of Nuisances sometime back, and the cleaning of the drain has been kept steadily In view', and the poisonous smell falls and rises as usual. Unless something is done immediately Kaka Road residents may be under the expense of having to fight an epidemic of some kind, and someone will be taken severely to task when too late. Thanking you for your valuable space.—l am, etc. PASSER-BY.
