NATIONAL SERVICE.
£ EVERYONE SHOULD HELP. As the -war progresses it "becomes more and more evident that it will he essential for every man and woman in the Empire to give some practical help, and the sooner this help is properly organised the better. The food production of' the Empire (and particularly that of the British Tales).:, both for human l consumption and the feeding of stock, is of the utmost importance just now. Upon this may hinge the whole out-' come of the war. Well, almost everyone can help in one way by growing .something useful. Vegetables such as Artichokes, Swedes, Carrots, Parsnips, Onions, Beet and the best keeping varieties of Pumpkins and Squashes are easily grown and if properly stored, will keep right through the Winter. By using more of these we w'ill reduce our cost of living as we need not use so much meat and imported foods. Thefre wijl undoubtedly b ; e a £reasj demand for live stock and meat when the war ends to replace the depleted herds of Europe. We should increase our herds in New Zealand so as to be ready for this. We cannot offer you the cheapest seeds on the market, we do not try to-do so. In buying seeds you should have the best procurable. We have been selling seeds since '6O (1860). When you buy Cooper's Seeds, ffou. ,buy at the same time the result of nearly sixty years' (experience.
