'Additional , interest is given “Witchcraft” the principal picture the programme ,at Everybody's 1 night, owing to. the fact that it w the first prize at a contest held at t Columbia University. It was consi ered that the picture, besides compc ing favourably' with the best phol pflayp, had <lhe' additional - meijit ■ consistency. The leading partsAn t play are taken by Miss Famju Wa as Susette, and Jack Dean, as Eic ard Wayne. The story pictures life the early New England colonies, wh [ witchcraft with all its horrors w rampant. Suzette and her mother a Huguenot refugees and take refuge a pilgrim colony. Richard Wayne is colonial soldier, and Suzette’s lov( ISTokomis, an Indian; woman, believ to be a witch, : is befriended by Sr ette, and both she and her mother f this fall under suspicion. Struble, t town miser, convinces Suzctte that t only way she can save her moth from persecution as a witch is marry him. Horrified though she she consents. Just after they are mt ried, Suzette’s mother dies. Nokou gives the girl a talisman telling h it will make every wish come tn Wayne is thunderstruck to learn th she is married, and believ.es that is for the miser’s money. Struble brutal to his young wife, and si with the talisman in her hand, te! him he would be better dc-ad, He taken ill, and before dying, accus Suzette of having cursed him. She found guilty of witchcraft and condemned to be hung. The ludi; woman sends for Wayne, and he a: his men race to the Governed recei ing from him a proclamation putti: an end to the folly of witchcra Wayne takes Suzette in his arms ai away from the old scenes a nt life full of hope for both of them.
THREE STARS A large and appreciative audien witnessed a splendid programme the Three Stars last night. The st “Indiscretion,” featuring Lilian Wai er, contained an unusual plot and good moral, as well as much love scenery. Special mention must al be made of the second star, “A E mance of Lloyd George,” which w quite different from usual. This pi gramme will be shown for to-nig only, and is well worth seeing.
