RUSSIAN TRAITORS. REGIMENT LEAVES THE TRENCHES. • ALLOWS THE GERMANS TO GO THROUGH. LONDON, July 21. The enemy persistently attacked twenty miles south of Brody. At firsT all attacks were repulsed, but one regiment between Batyov and Manajov left the trenches voluntarily and retired. As a result, neighbouring units were forced to retire also, giving the enemy an opportunity to develop his success. Our failure was largely due to the influence extremists. Penkratoff, a Socialist revolutionary who spent fourteen years in the Slusselburg conviction prison, ||id Alexinsky, a work-ing-class member of the Second Duma in a manifesto declare that since May 29 the War Office has been aware that a pro-peace agitation has been conducted in Russia by means of German money and officers of the German General Staff, who told an officer of a Siberian regiment that they were deputed to agitate in Russia. They declare that this agitation is being carried on by the President of the Ukrainian Alliance for the emancipation of the Ukraine, and by Lenin. A crowd on Wednesday pillaged the offices of the Leninist organ “Pravda.” Subsequently General Polvtsoff ordered soldiers to occupy the “Prav da” office, and the Provisional Go vernment disconnected all telephones of the Leninist officers’ dwellings throughout Kronstadt.

The Finnish Diet passed a Bill for the autonomy of Finland, rejecting an amendment that the Bill be first submitted to the Provincial Government. THE SITUATION IMPROVED. Further troops have arrived from the front.

Prince Lvoff’s resignation followed stormy Cabinet meetings. Kerensky, who had just returned from the front, criticised the Ministry’s military handling of the recent situation, and declared they should have used the fullest powers to suppress the meeting.
