THREE STARS. A film with a chimpanzee for star is a novel production but the leading role of “The Circus of Death 77 at Three Stars, to-night is worthily filled by ‘ ‘Jacko. 7 ’ He does everything but talk, and is the most accomplished jewel thief that ever got busy. Most uncanny is his jubilation when after a deft robbery of notes, he is petted by his mistress and treated to a sit-down supper. He handles his food like a gentleman, and thoroughly enjoys it. After his detection his daring and agility in the stern chase that ensues make most watchers almost wish him to escape. He puts up the most tremendous fight in the top of the cathedral tower to which he has escaped, and his dash to the roof an express train must be seen to be credited. Darwin would bo pleased to meet Jacko the star of “The Dumb Genius.’ 7 He would regard the “ chimp 7 7 as .positive proof of his theory. The wonderful monkey seen in “The Circus of Death 7 ’ has been under steady tuition and is seen in the most extraordinary set of performances in “The Dumb Genius. 77 Men and a monkey, the latter fighting for his life, hanging at the dizzy height of 150 feet form only one of the sensational scenes of “The Dumb Genius. 77 Supported by the thirteenth episode of the “Black Box,’ 7 “War Gazette,’ 7 “Belgium, 77 and comedy, etc.
EVERYBODY" S. There is a full change of programme at Everybody’s to-night, the principal picture being the Famous Players’ production “Destiny’s Toy.” This story deals with the adventures of a waif of the sea, w r ho, washed up with the flotsam of a wreck, ultimately falls into the hands of a gang of crooks, who train her to assist in their nefarious attacks upon Society. After many exhilarating adventures, she is at last captured 'whilst raiding the house of a wealthy merchant, only to discover that she has inadvertently sought to rob fhe house of -her father. This is but the barest skeleton of an ingenious and exciting plot, and the story in picture form is both interesting and full of rich incident.
