TAIHAPE FREEZING WORKS.

THE NEW SECRETARY. Mr. P. S. Carroll, who has been appointed secretary to the Taihape Freezing Company, was the recipient of a presentation on the occasion of his leaving the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Meat Co., at Wakatu, to take up his present position. The Hawke’s Bay Tribune, of July sth, say«: ‘'At the conclusion of the meeting of directors Mr. Davis Canning, for and on behalf of the directors and shareholders, made a presentation to Mr. Patrick S. Carroll of a beautifully illuminated address and substantial cheque in recognition, of the valuable services rendered by Mr. Carroll as secretary of the company. ‘'Mr. Canning dwelt at length on Mr. Carroll’s connection with the company from its infancy to its present proud position as one of the leading freezing works in the Dominion. In its promotion and success Mr. Carroll was largely instrumental, and was mainly responsible for the results achieved. He spoke of the loss the company was about to sustain, at the same time congratulating Mr. Carroll on his advancement and promotion as manager and secretary to the Taihape Farmers’ Meat Co., Ltd., "Mr. Carroll feelingly replied. In a brief review of the success of the company Mr. Carroll reciprocated the good feeling that existed between him, self and the directors, and regretted his severance with the company. He was leaving to better himself, but at the same time he would ever treasure the memories of old asociations remarking that Whakatu and those connected with it would always have a warm spot in his heart. Afterwards Mr Carroll was entertained at luncheon by the directors, during the course of which Mr. A. C. Russell proposed the health of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll, Mr. Russell spoke feelingly on Mr. Carroll’s departure. As fellow West-Coasters there was a warmth of feeling that existel beyond business. He was confident of Mr. Carroll succeeding in his new venture, trusting Mr. Carroll would make a warm friends as he was leaving behind.

The illuminated address presented to Mr. Carroll was signed by the chairman and directors of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Meat Co., and was warmly appreciative cf the valuable services rendered by Mr. Carroll as secretary to the company, and of the capable, faithful and impartial manner in which he had carried out his duties.
