INCREASED ACTIVITY IN FLANDERS. LONDON, July 11. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We entered trenches in the neighbourhood of Nieuport and inflicted casualties.' We drove off raiding parties southeastward of Habrincourt and eastward of Monchy le Preux # The enemy's artillery was very active on the coast reaching great intensity in the evening. We vigorously replied. The weather prevented aerial operations. GERMAN OFFICIAL REPORT. LONDON, July 10. 'A' wireless German official message states that the duel has assumed greater intensity on the coast in the Ypres sector, and also eastwards of Ypres sector, and also eastward of Wytschaete. We repulsed English thrusts southwest of Hollebeke, reconnoitring engagements north-east of Messines, near Lens, Frcsnoy, and north-west of St. Quentin. The enemy in June lost 220 aeroplanes and thirty-three captive balloons. We lost sixty-eight aeroplanes and three balloons. GERMAN ATTACKERS SEVERELY BATTERED.

Local attempts north of Laffaux Mill, south-east •of Allies, failed The enemy powerfully attacked Hurtebise. The High Commissioner cables: Sir Douglas Haig reports that yestereve, after 24 hours' intense bombardment on the Nieup'ort front, the enemy having demolished Quenes defences, destroying the Yhei bridge a\ic isolating the sector, penetrated six hundred yards on a fourteen hundred yards' front, reaching the right bank of the Yser. opposite Lambartzyde. After temporarily gaining some advanced positions, they were driven back by a counter-attack.
