"Beyond Lies Death." —This is the superscription set- upon • the gate to the; entrance of "The Hidden Valley," the subject of the fine Pathe Gold Rooster film to be shown at the Three Stars Theatre to-night. Central Africa is still largely an unknown land,; and. its mystery and savagery are exploited in "The Hidden Valley." Traces of ancient civilsation are to be found to this day in many parts of mysterious Africa, and a temple with strange mechanism which is regarded with su- ' perstitious veneration by the savage inhabitants forms a central object in ' "The Hidden Valley." The faultless form of a Greek statue is owned by Mademoiselle Valkyrien, the splendid beautiful heroine of "The Hidden Valley." She first became prominent through winning the prize for perfect loveliness and rapidly became a • wellknown actress in emotional partS- Tne Gazette is a good one, and "The Stranding of the Mararoa isof interest.
