POLITICAL AND ECONOMICAL CHANGES. 9 - /,\ * * i,u LONDON, May 23, The Daily Chronicle’s Amsterdam correspondent, indicating forthcoming political and economic changes in Austria, says the Emperor Karl -has nominated sixty new members of the Austrian Upper House, five beinghereditary and the remainder life peers. They include Benedict, proprietor of the “Neue Erie Presse” (the first journalist to occupy a position in the Upper House); Dumba, ex-Anibas-sador at America; Deitrichtein exAmbassador at London; Conrad Hotzendorff, ex-War Minister; Barons Rothschild and Skodo. Nineteen of the new peers belong to the left, favouring Parliamentary Government. Twenty-three belong to the Autcratic Right and the remainder to the Middle parties.

It is expected that Lichy or Serenyi will be asked to form a . Cabinet, The resignation is the outcome of German intrigues! Tisza opposing the Austro-German policy. The deciding factor was Hungarian electoral reform. AMSTERDAM, May 24.
Tisza’s resignation is a, crushing blow to German influence in AustroHungary. The Emperor Karl and his wife are credited with the responsibility for gaining German popularity thereby. <
