SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING.

A special general meeting of the Otaihape Meat and Produce Comapny was held in the supper room of the Town Hall yesterday afternoon, at which there was a very large attendance of shareholders.

Mr. H. Tj. Bennett, the managing director, presided, and gave a brief resume of the season’s work, and expressed the opinion that it would be advisable to issue about 1000 preference shares. He also stated that, owing to' a large increase of private business he would have to resign from the position he held in the company, and he forthwith tendered his resignation.

ft was resolved that Mr. D. G. Gordon be appointed chairman of directors, and that a managing secretary be advertised for, the latter being necessary by the resignation of Mr. Cannons. The question of issuing preference shares was discussed and it was ultimately decided to offer 1000 shares, no less than 500 of them being taken up at the meeting. After other routine business one of the most enthusiastic meetings ever held by the company terminated.
