POST-WAR TRADE. Received 10.10. ADELAIDE, this day. The Associated Chambers of Commerce, which is inquiring into postwar trade, reported that trading with the enemy should be prohibited or restricted for a term of years after the war, and that permanent preferential reciprocal trading facilities should be established with the Empire. SENTENCE DEFERRED. Received 8.45. SYDNEY, this day. In the case of Howell Price (cabled on January 23 as having been found guilting of uttering), sentence was deferred. MINING PRODUCTION. SYDNEY, this day. Mining production in New South Wales for 1916 is valued at £10,515,856, an increase of £912,626: the coal output was 8,127,161 tons valued at £3,336,419. The principal decreases are in coal and gold. DR. GILRUTH’S APPOINTMENT. MELBOURNE, this day. Dr. Gilruth’s term expires on Saturday. It is now stated the Government has deferred his further appointment until after the Federal election. MELBOURNE MARKETS. Received 10.10. MELBOURNE, this day.
