AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODY’S.

“Under the Red Robe”— When Richelieu made up his mind to abolish duelling in the Court of Louis XIII, ho first , warned Gil de Berault, the first swordsman in France. A duel was forced upon de Berault, and the Cardinal discovered that his edict was set at naught. If he brought to Paris Heu,ri do Cocheforet, a rebel, all would be forgiven; so de Berault set out for Cochefqrct and was satisfied to find that the rebel was in hiding. During the night, however, the rebel rode away amTthe gallant had to win his way into the chateau. This he did by representing himself as a rebel, deceiving both wife and Renee, the sistoy of de Cocheforet. When the rebel returned de Berault was suspected. Louis was impatient and wishing de Cocheforet arrested quickly despatched Capt. Larolle to affect the arrest. The Captain met an untimely end, and to save de Cocheforet the gallant revealed the purpose of his visit, and arresting him held de Cocheforet against the King’s warrant by virtue of the mandate of the Cardinal. Renee insisted upon accompanying her brother to Paris. On the way de Berault released the prisoner, and returning to the Cardinal .said he was a gentleman and declined to do such dirty work. The Supporting pictures include the twelfth episode of “The Broken Coin” serial, and a screaming 2-reel comedy “Lizzy’s Lingering Love.”

THREE STARS. A programme of nine interesting pictures was shown to a good house last night. One of the finest trick films we have seen was the Triangle Keystone entitled “Hearts and Sparks.” This alone is well worth seeing. Last night the audience was kept in a continuous roar. The Topical Budget in this programme is a really good one; while the rest of the pictures are well up to the standard. This programme will be shown to-night for the last time.

To-morrow night Douglas Fairbanks will appear in “The Good Bad Man, and on Saturday night a special production will be shown entitled The Bugle Call,” of which, fuller particulars later.
