A PRESBYTERIAN WELCOME
A well-attended gathering of members and adherents of the Presbyterian Church was held In the Church
Hall last night, to extend a welcome to the Rev. F. McDonald and Mrs. McDonald, Mr Mcdonald having under. ! taken the pastoral work of the charge tor twelve months. Mr. A. R.. Munro, session clerk,, occupied the chair., M* said he had much pleasure on behalf of the congregation in welcoming Mi. and Mrs. McDonald in to their midst. In the course of his remarks, ne said there was plenty of,■hard work to co dene in Taihapc, but he trusted that Mr. McDonald would find pleasure and prosperity in his work amongst them. Mr. McDonald, in replying, thanked them for the welcome extended to himself and his wife, and also for the kindness shown to him when he first, came to Taihapc in November. He then proceeded to outline his work and at the conclusion of an admirable address received a hearty round of applause. The enjoyment of the evening was much, enhanced by songs, con tributed by Misses Merritt and McKinnon, Mrs Papworth, Mr. J. D. Ellson, and a glee by the choir; and recitations by Miss Bennett and Mr. Munrc. Mrs. Beaton ably presided at the piano. The hall was nicely arranged for the occasion by the ladies, who also provided a bountiful supper. The proceedings closed with the Doxology.
