SELINSKY-AMADIO CONGEST.
M. Sclinsky, the noted Russian violinist, John Amadio, eminent flautist, and their talented associates—Miss Elsy Treweck, soprano, and Miss Jessie Mates on, pianist —arrived in Tniliapc this morning,, and will appear in the Town Mall this evening. Many of those who had the pleasure of hearing this quartette when in Taihape Recently have expressed their intention of being present once more, so satisfied were
they that such an excellent combination is rarely heard in these parts. Since last appearing locally this brilliant coterie of artists have had the sat sfaction of attracting large audiences in Auckland, and by the undoubted merit of their attainments have added further conquests to their already
lengthy lists. It says much for the !-hT in sky-Amadio company that in all the cities visited the critics unanimously agree on the great qualifications possessed by each of the artists forming what the Christchurch Press terms “this remarkable musical combine.” In the programme to be jiresented this evening, a new series of items will be included, and each one may be considered a gem from the pens of the different composers represented. This will be the final appearance of the quartette locally,, and if is hoped that the attendance will bo commensurate with the quality of the attraction. Should any special number be desired for performance, a request for. same must be submitted not later than 7.30 p.m. The firt item will be given at eight o’clock. THESE STAES. We would advise these who wish to enjoy a good evening's amusement and have a really good laugh, to go and see “ Chimmie Faddon. ” There has been no better comedy drama shown here before. Last night the large audience was kept in roars of laughter. The acting ox \ictor kloor was indeed a treat to sec. “Beautiful Devon,” a reallv beautiful scenic, also a coloured picture,; “Bird Life,” were interesting subjects. “Wireless from the War ’ ’ in cartoon, and a. coraedv by Chaplin's rival, makes one of the hi.ghclass programmes for which this theatre is noted. To-morrow night Rex Beach’s masterpiece “The Ne’er Do Well” will be shown, ivith Kathleen Williams in the leading role. Mr Nicholls, who Has just returned from Auckland, has secured for this town some of the finest pictures that are produced, and which will arrive soon.
