LAND AND INCOME TAX.
RESULT OF WAR LEVY. i OVER ONE MILLION INCREASE. WELLINGTON, Jan. 27. '! The Hon. James Allen, Acting Prime Minister announced that the effect of the increase made by the Finance Act of 1915 was shown by a comparison of the Land and Income Tax collected for the years 1914-15 and 1915-16. During the previous period the Land Tax collected totalled £799,641, and the Income Tax £510,318, making a total of t £1,339,959. In the period of 1915-10 the Land Tax returned £1,048,356, and the Income Tax £1,392,119, making a total of £2,440,475. This shows an increase for last year of £1,110,510, as the result of the Finance Act of 1915.
