RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL.
{ ENGINEER'S REPORT. *<& The Engineer to the Rangitikei County Council ([Sydney .->. R. Mair) reports as follows on road -operatn ;s in the county: — Rangitira Riding.—The road grader has finished trimming reads which are now in good order. Wangaehu Riding.— Roads have been trimmed up by grader, and are now in good order. i have let Contract for gravelling Heard's Hill, Okirae road, and repair gravel on Mangatipona Road, to Mr. R. Fraider, and lie .starts work next, week TE KAPUA RIDING. Roads are all in good order. Poor progress has been made with gravelling on Pukemapou Road, but the contractor .has promised to put >n some more teams now that wool carti'ng is over. I have called fresh fenders for gravelling the Taihape-Mataroa and Puke-naua-Namunui Roads. Settlers on Otaihape Valley Read are protesting about delay in startingformation of this road. v All the requirements of the ment have been complied with fcr a month or more, and still the authcrityfor the Government grant has not yetcome to --.land. AWARUA RIDING. I have let gravelling on Tuhoe Road to Mr. F. Manson, but he is unable to start till he has completed Kaipahore Road, which will take him about a month. This Riding is still short of two roadmen. EREWHON RIDING. The roads are in lair order. A recent thunderstorm damaged the Moawhango-Erewkon Road, but men are now repairing it. GENERAL MATTERS. I -have received word from Collett and Son, of Dannevire. that the crusher is completed, and I propose to shortly go over and give it a trial run. and if satisfactory take it over, and remove to Taihape.
