INCIDENTS OF THE WAR.
GERMAN GENERAL STAFF SOUND AN ALARM. i INTERNAL POSITION ADMITTED TO BE BAD. LONDON, Jan 17. The German General Staff is evidently fearing an acute economic crisis and appeals to the nation to bear internal difficulties and curb discontent. It admits that internal conditions are bad, but states the wonder is that it is not worse. Everything depends on keeping up the national spirit, otherwise Germanism itself is endangered The General Staff recalls what their forefathers endured during the Napoleonic wars and urges the nation to show equal fortitude and abandon complaints, grumbles and suspicions.
GERMANY'S WANING MAN POWER LONDON. Jan 16. Amsterdam reports that the Kaiser has ordered Count von Stein to organise all the boys in Germany to fit them for war service. School-boys are to be compelled to attend military drill daily. Part of the routine includes long night marches. The order amounts in compulsory war athleticism, with the object of training every German boy to be a soldier in the shortest possible time.
