ON THE WESTERN FRONT.
GERMAN RAiDS REPULSED.-. LONDON, Jan 16. Sir Douglas Haig reports: Last evening an attempted raid north-east of Guendecourt was repulsed. There is mutual artillery fire.
FRENCH SUCCESSES. LONDON. Jan 17. A French communique says: The artillery struggle is being continued fairly briskly on the Somme northeastern front, at Verdun, and in Lorraine. We made a successful ccup-do-main on enemy trenches ea'st of Vicsurais. HARRASSING THE HUNS. Received 11.40. LONDON, Jan. 17. A French communique states: We repulsed small enemy attacks oast of Clcry, and south of Biaches les Esparges. Our patrols penetrated the enemy lines at several points on heights on the banks of the Meuse, and in the forests of Apremont.
