PARLIAMENTARY CONTROL IN FRANCE. PARIS,, Jan. 15. Deputy Violctte. in reporting to tlie Government upon the necessity for Parliamentary control, cites the position in February, 1915, when, he states, the greater part of the factories were closed owing fo mobilisation. The manufacture of rifles was almost nil. There had been no factories built since the end of the war. The daily output of shells was 25,000, for 4000 guns of large calibre, while guns were lying in the arsenals unused. GERMAN ENTERPRISE. PREPARING FOR POST-WAR TRADE. AMSTERDAM, Jan. 15. The “Neuo Poster Journal” says that capitalists in Germany and AustriaHungary are negotiating a gigantic banking concern for the Central Powers. It is stated that 50 millions sterling have already been raised. German enterprise aims at developing commercial interests during the transition stage after the war.
