AMUSEMENTS.
THESE STAES. There was a largo audience at the Three Stars last night, when a programme of more than usual merit was screened. The first part uf the evening wa s taken up with scenic and tunica! films, and the screamingly funny Triangle-Keystone picture,, “A Hash of Courage,’’ which i s undoubtedly one of the best of Mack Sennctt's productions. The second part was devoted to the showing of a series of pictures entitled “Midnight at Maxim’s,” which is probably th c first of its kind to be shown in New Zealand, and introduces the Taihape public to a phase of life to be found nowhere outside Amreica. It depicts the night life of the gayest cafe in New York, the celebrated Maxim s, in which the entertainment is made up of revue and ballet, and in the picture under notice the public is introduced to some of the greatest exponents of the tcrpsiehorcan art. The humourous side is well maintained by the actions of Mr Shyc, while the “Donkey Stunt” is one of thc funniest things imaginable. It is impossible to describe the film in detail. To sec it is to be delighted. The programme will be repeated to-night.
