The first count of votes handed to the returning officer shows the positions of the three first candidates to be as follows; 1, Railway Rosebud (Mary O’Brien); 2, Native Rosebud (Marianna Hekenui); 3, Rosebud May Denness. ,

There was a larg-e gathering of children present at the first practice at O’Connor’s hall. There is ample room in the Town Hall for several hundred children dancers, and even if unable to attend the first practice any child is welcome at subsequent practices. The children, as is usual with them, are entering enthusiastically into the business and appeared yesterday to thoroughly enjoy themselves.

At the stock sale on Wednesday a pet iamb will be auctioned on behalf of the Te Kapua Rosebud. This is the first public appeal on behalf of Rosebud Field and it is expected a substantial sum will he realised, as a result of the auction of the pet lamb, which, as of old, will be sacrificed for the good of a cause.

To-morrow refreshments will be provided at the stock sale by the supporters of Rosebud Doole. Pukeokahu. Settlers, farmers, and others are requested to bring along a huge appetite, which the ladies supplying refreshments will administer to, for the benefit of the Soldiers’ Comforts Fund and the furtherance of the Pukeokanu candidate’s chances. The dance at Bennett’s Siding ;n aid of the hlataroa Rosebud is exciting much interest, and besides the Bennett’s Siding residents there will bo a number of Mataroa and. Taihapo visitors. The Bennett’s Siding dances have a first-class reputation, and the coming function promises to eclipse previous efforts. The adult dance in the Town Hall on Thursday evening will commence at 10 p.m., immediately after the chiltlrfunction.
