Huge crowds in the streets demanded increased rations, and shouted, "We want peace!" The troops wene called up, but refused to attack the populace,, and they returned to their barracks. The police are unable to cope with the disturbances. (Gratz is the capital of Styria, in Austria-Hungary, on the Mun, It is a great manufacturing cenrte, with an extensive trade, and has a population of 140,000).
