SOUTH AFRICA'S REPRESENTATIVE. Received 11.55. PRETORIA, Jan 9. General Louis Botha's invitation to attend the Imperial Conference will be considered on the re-assembling of the Cabinet. FINANCIAL. BANKING RETURNS. Received 11.15. LONDON, Jan 9. Samuel Montague and Go's Bullion Circular shows that at the end of 1916 the gold in the Bank of Germany was £126,000,000 sterling; Bank of England, £52,884,000; Prance, £203,037, 000; Russian, £146,684,000; Italy, £43,036,000; whereto must be added the British visible stock of £112,000, 000, apart from the bank note reserve, making the Allies' gold resources nearly £588,000,000.
