BORDEN. Received 10.10. OTTAWA, Jan 7Obituary: Sir Frederck Borden, exMinister of Militia. MR. HERBERT HOFFMAN SCOTT.. For fully six months the late Mr. Scott had suffered keenly, although resignedly and without complaint; his sufferings were borne much as might have been expected of the man. and he succumbed to them as he had borne them. He was well-known from Marion to well on up the Main Trunk line, having lived in Taihape and followed the profession of surveyor for upwards of thirteen years. He was also no stranger in all public affairs; he was three or four times a member of the Taihape Borough Council; he took a keen interest in everything fecting the public welfare; he was of a kind and genial nature, and was at all times what would be conventionally termed a good sport. It is understood that be came from the ’South Island, and his people still live at AA r oodbury, Geraldine. Beside brothers, sisters, and other relatives, the i deceased leaves a widow and six children to mourn their loss. He was a comparatively young man, being only 40 years of age at his death. The funeral is to leave his late residence,. Mataroa Road, on Tuesday afternoon (to-morrow 7 ) at 2 o’clock, for the Taihape Cemetery.
