RUSSIAN CAMPAIGN.
ACTIVE FIGHTING IN THE DOBRUDJA. Received 9.30. LONDON, Dec 22. A German communique states that the enemy north of Dobrudja, which has hitherto been retiring, has resumed its resistance. Strong hostile attacks on the Cerna loop were repulsed. RUSSIANS' ROLE REVEALED. LONDON, De"c 20. The Russians effected an important check to the German advance before Batagu, thirty miles west ,of Brailia, giving time to remove the Brailia wheat stores, and providing a clear re treat to the Dobrudja troops. The Russian, General Gouako, has taken command of the Russo-Rouman-ian forces. The Roumanians are reorganising behind the Russians. It is reported that the Germans levied four millions sterling on Bucharest, and ordered Roumanian paper money to bear the German stamp to the amount of 15 per cent, face value. Germany promised full civil and political liberties to the Jews. NO RELIEF FOR GERMANY. BERNE, Dec 20. The German Government has issued, through the "Cologne Gazette" and other newspapers, a warning that the conquest of Roumania may not produce any immediate relief in connection with the food supply. The announcement adds: It is impossible to increase the rations of bread and meat, or anything.
