THREE STARS. 1 The management of Three Stars will present this evening “The Fighting Chance, ’ ’ dramatised from the book of that name by the famous American author,, Robert W. Chambers. The plot turns oil a beautiful society girl, who mairics a man who has inherited the taint of alcoholism. She herself had the same taint, but won the battle against it, so she gives him a ‘ ‘fighting chance ’ ’ of asserting his manhood and winning her love. The end secs him triumphant over the vice, with a woman’s aid. The tense situations in this forceful filming of a forceful book are brightened by many a flash of humour. The supporting films include “The Presentation of Medals to Anzacs by Sir George Reid. ” “In the Italian Alps,” a charming scenic film; and ‘“Mr Jack Hash, Magnate, ’ ’ a very fine Vitagraph comedy. Happy Jack is suddenly seized with high social aspirations, and decides to carry out his ideas, to the great dismay of Lizzie Potts, the cook. Ho fixes up, taxis to the Giltmore. and registers as Count Li Woppo. Mrs Pansy Bullion, a, rich widow, takes him for a prince travelling incog. Being title-mad she proposes, and he dazedly accepts her. The real Prince arrives, and Jack has to fight a duel with him. Faithful j Lizzie is on his trail ,and takes him j back to the hash-house, where they find everything hashed up by hooligans. < < The French on the Summit of Mount Langekapt ’ ’ is an official war film. “Help Those in Need” shows the making of artificial limbs. The programme is one of exceptional variety. EVERYBODY’S. Those who saw the new programme at. the Town Hall on Saturday had a real feast of entertainment. “The Circular Path,” the star feature, is a particularly brilliant motion-picture drama featuring the well-known actor, Henry B. Walthall. “John Bull’s Sketch Book,” “Climbing the Great Pyramid,” and a funny comedy “Sophie’s Homecoming” arc other good films. To-morrow night there will be shown an interesting World Film picture', “The Heart of the Blue Ridge,” featuring Miss Clara Kimball Young. The picture concerns the doings of some picturesque people in the moonshine country, and there is a very powerful plot to it. The popular young actor, Mr Chester Barnett, is also included in the cast, which is exceptionally powerful.
