AMUSEMENTS.

THREE STARS. At this theatre to-night there will be a double attraction, the first being Professor Marvou in -his thrilling feats -on the trapeze. This will take place immediately after the interval. The second will be the fine Eclipse drama, entitled* 1 Alsace-Lorraine,” by the Eclipse Company or Paris, in 4500 feet. This drama has been particularly well done. The story, of course, concerns the state of Alsace-Lorraine before and during the commencement of the War. It opens with times of oppression under Hun rule and finishes with the victorious French troops capturing their lost State and fellowcountrymen. It shows us the spirit of France at the present time, and should go down well everywhere. Mdlle. Rejane takes the leading role. Monsieur Orbey, a large woollen raanu facturer of Thann, has remained after the annexation of 1871. Deeply respected by all the people of French descent, he is their champion in the great struggle, which from the first day of the annexation has developed between the Alsatians and their German oppressors. They decide to hold one of their old-time carnivals, and, during the merry-making 'Madame Orbey, dressed in the national costume, is dancing with her husband, when a German officer rudely forces his attentions upon her and demands the favour of a dance. Furious at refusal, he grips Monsieur Orbey and a struggle ensues, which quickly becomes general, and violent blows are exchanged. Monsieur Orbey, badly hurt, returns to his home. Monsieur Orbey among others is arrested, imprisoned, and eventually exiled from Alsace. In company with his wife, he leaves the country he so dearly loves, while his son Jacques remains with his uncle, Monsieur Honneck, and takes con trol of the factory. The usual prices will be charged, Is and 6d.

EVERYBODY’S. The large audience at the Town Hall last night greatly enjoyed the very excellent change of programme presented. The Topical Budget aroused great interest as usual. Picture-theatre goers could always do with more of these snapshot filmparagraphs recording the current events. The comedy, Chaplin in ‘'Shanghaied,” proved very mirthprovoking, -while the five-act drama “The Little Dutch Girl” was followed from beginning to end with keenest attention. This programme will be shown again to-night, when no doubt there will be another large attendance.
