FOUNDERS OFF USHANT. (Ecuter). Eeceived 11.5 LONDON, Oct 30 The Elder Dempster liner Bornn foundered 25 miles west of Ushant in a heavy gale. All were saved. WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN. The New York Times’ Washington correspondent says an extraordinary letter fom Lord Charles Beresford has been sent to Colonel Thompson, of the United States Navy League. Lord Beresford says: “We escaped an appalling danger at the beginning of the war. If the Germans had attacked us without warning and sent h e r 104 cruisers and armed merchantmen to our unprotected trade routes-we would have been brought to our knees within a :oup!e of months.
