EXTRAORDINARY ACHIEVEMENT. BY BELGIAN AUTOMOBILES. PARIS, Oct 10. "Le Journal" records an extraordinary achievement by Belgian automobiles on the Russian front. They penetrated Galicia to a depth ©f 150 kilometres. The raid lasted a fortnight, covering 600 kilometres. They returned without having sustained cas ualties, and revealed the organisation at the enemy's rear. ANOTHER NOTE PREDICTED. PRESIDENT HAS A CONFERENCE. WASHINGTON, Oct 11. The President and Mr. Lansing •had a lengthy discussion on the submarine situation, and it is believed they consider the law has not been violated. However, officials at Washington predict a new Note dealing with the peril to passengers, and whether placing them in lifeboats 40 miles from land satisfies American demands.
