A TAIHAPE HERO.
GIVES ALL FOR COUNTRY. The news that Private John McLaughlin had been killed in action came as a great shock to his many friends in Taihape and his parents, brothers and sisters will have the sincere sympathy of the whole district extended to them in their loss. This is the second son who has given ins life for the Empire, while a third son, Frank, has been wounded. The p--;rt the McLaughlin family have taken in the Avar has met with the admiral Jon of all, and this fact will perhaps help to soften the blow caused by the loss of John McLaughlin. Private McLaughlin, who was only 26 years of age, left with the Sixth Reinforcements, and was a member of a machine-gun section. He saw five, months' fighting in Gallipoli, but came through without a scratch. By trade he was a cabinetmaker, having been apprenticed to Mr. F. W. Somerville. He was very well-known locally, specially in athletic circles, having always taken a keen interest in all athletic circles.
