UPPER WANGAEHU ROAD BOARD
A meeting of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board was held yesterday morning,, there being present Messrs Pedersen, Addis and Bradley. The Chairman's action in ordering 150 yards of metal for Mataroa was ! confirmed. | Accounts amounting to £126 4s So" were passed for payment. The Chairman brought up the matter of repair of culverts, and it was agreed that culverts in the district should be renovated wiiere required, and the foreman was instructed to arrange for the timber to be split for twenty culverts in the Rangiwaea and Rakatepauma districts. Mr Bradley and the foreman were authorised to procure two horses for the grade. The foreman (Mr E. J Titter), reported that during September the weather had been very beneficial for the roads. The metal road at Bennett's Siding had been' rooted up and some 15 chains of patching done. There -
been some 200 yards of metal put in altogether over a distance ,of 64 cna The job would be finished in a few days. They -had squared the stringers on the Owhakuna bridge, which tvou; be re-erected during the coming month, before the heavy traffic started. He would start grading before the end of October, and it would be as well for the Board to buy a couple of cheap horses for the season. They could do all the grading with the two present horses, and any other work required. The roads generally were ir fair order, with the exception of the Wairuhe Kaimatanga, and top end of the Owhakura roads. The report was adopted.
The Treasurer reported that the overdraft at the bank was £llO 3s Id.
