Roumania foresees territorial and political changes menacing her future security, and she joins in an effort to accelerate peace. Th e Roumanians attacked along the whole front, obtaining successes. The King has gone to the front and commands his array. KING CONSTANTINE SUDDENLY ILL. ATHENS, August 29 It is announced that the King lias been taken seriously ill. He cannot receive a deputation conveying Venizclos’s recommendations. GERMANY VERY ANXIOUS. THE PEOPLE WARNED. COPENHAGEN, August 29. Germany is anxiously concerned as to Greece’s next step. He is now rushing at top speed to the etstern headquarters. There is intense bitterness in Germany at what is described as Roumanian disgraceful action. The German Chancellor bluntly refused the Roumanian Minister a farewell interview. Th e Minister with his staff left Berlin on Tuesday by special! train. The Bulgarians occupied various loi calities abandoned by the Greeks, westward of Kavala. I British monitors bombarded enemy gatherings at the south of the Struma. The Bulgarian communique on Saturday, stating that the Serbians were defeated at Kukoruz, is denied. Instead they really defeatd the Bulgarians. ROUNDING UP SHIRKERS. LONDON, Augtust 29. Many police court cases are arising out of raids and round-ups in London and the provinces to apprehend men of military age suspected of shirking. The police and military are visiting popular resorts and demanding satir factory papers. A BULGARIAN PREDICTION. LONDON, August 29. The ‘‘Morning Post’s’’ Buda Pesth correspondent on the 20th inst. quoted a Bulgarian general ns saying: Strong German and Turkish divisions on the lower Danube are ready to cross in order to rush to Bucharest, which can be easily reached in five days, whereas the Russians would be unable to assist the Roumanians under twenty days_ It is believed that the Turks originally intended to attack the north-east front were diverted towards Brasso. Hungarians have been sent to the Tolda Valley to guard the Constantinople railway. SULPHUROUS GAS SHELLS. TERRIBLE EFFECT REPORTED. LONDON, August 29. The ‘‘Hamburger Nachrichten’s” account of the British offensive insists on the terrible results of sulphurous gas shells, which America supplied in enormous quantities. The paper says the British artillery do not know the meaning of economy in. ammunition.
