ANZAC ART UNION.

A TAIHAPE REPLICA. * . SIX HUNDRED SHEEP IN. STAN. PEYTON ON THE JOEL There is at present being organised by the Taihape Amusement Committee an Art Union on similar lines to the Anzac Art Union, promoted by Mr P. A. McHardy and already some GOO sheep have been promised by farmers in the district. The object is to raise funds for the local Red Cross Society, and there is a particular feature about the art union that is worthy of note. As the money comes in it can be immediately placed to the credit of the Society there being no necessity to wait until the drawing of the Art Union. The promoters hope to have upwards of 1000 sheep donated, and circulars have been sent to many of the farmers asking them to notify the Committee of the number of sheep they are prepared to donate. He who gives quickly gives twice, and the Committee ask that the donations should he advised at the earliest possible date. Until the sheep are actually donated no permission can be obtained from the Minister of Internal Affairs for the holding of the Art Union, and so the sooner the Committee ar& advised of donations the somer the tickets will be issued. The Art Union will probably not close till January or February so that delivery of the sheep will n -t he required until that date. The object is a eery worthy 07ie. and as week follows week so will the necessity for increased funds for the Red

Cross Society be seen It is intended to issue tbs tickets, all over the Dominion, and the Art Union should prove not only a good means of raising money for a good object but also a good means of advertising Taihape and its district. Already the Committee know where to place £IOO worth of tickets, and people are asking when the tickets are to be issued. Some of the commercial travellers have promised to do their ut most for the scheme and it should prove most successful. Anyone wishing to donate sheep should immediately notify the Red Cross Society.
