Murray, Commander in Chief in Egypt, which, after repeating the details given in the cables of the severe defeat recntly inflicted on the Turks adds: — “During the whole of these operations the brunt of the fighting fell on the Australian and New Zealand Mounted Division, under General Chan vel. This division finely upheld ths traditions of the Commonwealth and Dominion troops. It fought with great steadfastness, gallantry, and untiring energy throughout.
