In the House of Commons Mr Asquith. said the Government proposed to extend the life of Parliament to the end of* May. The Government did not propose to alter qualifications for franchise. The difficulties in enfranchising' all soldiers and sailors was enormous, but provision would be made to prevent disqualifications of men who left their homes to serve their country at home or. abroad., It appeared that the House would not raise the question of the franchise during wartime.
