RANGIWAEA SCHOOL COMMITTEE
(To the Editor). Sir, —I tried some time ago, in a mild and unobtrusive way. to awaken the Rangiiwaea School Committee to a sense of their responsibilities, and 1 see in your issue of the Sth inst. that I have succeeded in getting a drowsy reply from the chairman of that committee. In his somewhat rambling and disconnected effusion he says that I have no offspring attending this school Under present circumstances I am corn pelled to send them to the local school, but I wish I was not —so do the offspring". No, Mr Rip Van Winkle Chairman, you are barking at the wrong 'possum. Mr Chairman accuses me of attacking the present teacher and his predecessor; I did not molly-coddle the former, as--Mr''Chairman is inclined to do, and as for the latter; I am not aware that I mentioned him at all. Mr. Chairman also talks of valuable time he arid his incompetent, committee-have giv|n for the benefit of others. It must h'hi>-i been in small.doses and at long intervals, as there is nothing; to show foil it. If. Mr Chairman will rub some of the. sleep out of his eyes and comb the wool out of his whiskers, so as to get a good, clear view, he would see the disgraceful state of the school entrance;' a sea of mud that the children havtj to' wade through at least twice a day, but according to Mr Chairman there is some rule or law. laid down by some "Tin Diety" that prevents the committee from havingi any improvements done. I am, etc., A PARENT.
