A. & P. ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE.
THE PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS. (Per Press Association) Wellington, July 11 The annual conference of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association opened to-day. In his presidenial address Mr Perry stated that the commandeering and fixing of the price of meat worked very satisfactorily, but the same could not be said of wheat and chaff. Producers should be well satisfied with the result of Government action to secure adequate shipping. One of the biggest problems was that of absorbing into most fitting occupations returned soldiers. He hoped the Conference would show strongly their sympathy in securing good land for every soldier capable of working it. The Minister of Agriculture fiddressed the Conference, and said- that fresh legislation this year was out of the question. It was necessary that production should be kept high, and consequently th,. Department was propared to give every advice to the man on the land. Mr W. D. Hunt, Southland, was elected president.
